Los Castorcitos in Rosarito Beach, Mexico!

The group will have the amazing honour of participating in the 4th Annual International  Rosarito Beach Mariachi and Folklorico Festival! We will have a chance to participate in 3 days of workshops taught by some of the best Mariachis in the world, including members of Mariachi Vargas!

The festival dates are October 2 – 6 and because this may be a sizeable expense, we will continue our fundraising efforts throughout the month of September. So if you know of someone who is having a birthday, wedding, anniversary or any other special occasion, please give us a call and we’ll be happy to entertain! Any amount of honorarium is welcome!

Los Castorcitos will be playing their first show of the season this coming Sunday, December 2nd at Our Town Cafe (245 East Broadway). Come out! Bring the whole family! It will be an unforgettable Mexican experience!

Fundraising Car Wash!

On June 17th, take your Dad out on Father’s Day and get his car washed at the Castorcitos Annual Car Wash Event! Located in the Safeway parking lot at Oak and 25th in Vancouver, we will be starting at 10AM and continuing until about 4PM. The price is by donation only and we will also be selling lemonade. Lets hope for great weather!

Fundraising Yard Sale!

Coming up on June 10th, Los Castorcitos will be having a yard sale fundraising event from 10AM- 12noon. Not only will there be some great treasures to purchase but there will also be a chance to win a bottle of tequila or an authentic Mexican Sombrero!

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Mariachi Los Castorcitos

Come to Los Compadres Restaurant (4280 Hastings St, Burnaby) from 3:00 – 6:00 PM on Saturday, May 5th for a family celebration with live music, a raffle and food specials! Los Castorcitos will play two sets at 3:30 and 5:00. The event is also to help raise funds for the group to participate in the International Mariachi Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico.

New Members Welcome!

As we are approaching the next group of rehearsals, starting on April 14th, I’d like to make sure that everyone knows that we are always seeking new members! So if you play or know of anyone who plays guitar, violin or trumpet and is between the age of 8 and 17, please be in touch with us.

Mariachi Los Castorcitos LIVE at Our Town Cafe

Mariachi Los Castorcitos will be performing at Our Town Cafe on March 10 at 7:30. They will play two short sets presenting a couple of new tunes that they have been working on. Please come down, invite your friends and family, have a snack and enjoy some of the classic melodies of Mexico!

Continuing the fundraising

We had such a successful coffee fundraiser before the the end of last year, raising $375 for the group, that we will be continuing some coffee sales again! This time you will be able to support two causes in one purchase. We will be selling coffee from Café Ético – fairly traded, certified organic, bird friendly, shade grown premium coffee. A portion of each bag sold will go directly into Los Castorcitos bank account to help fund their trip to Guadalajara, Mexico to take part in the International Mariachi Festival, and the remaining profits will support CoDevelopment Canada and their work with grassroots organizations working for social justice in Latin America.
